Africa, a gay continent?

During our first reading cycle, from May to July 2018, we will be exploring the diversity of the gay and lesbian life in Africa through the works of Chinelo Okparanta, Tendai Huchu and K Sello Duiker.

Set in the civil war in Nigeria, contemporary Zimbabwe or in the cosmopolitan neighbourhoods of Cape Town, these books will give us the opportunity to reflect on the reality and diversity of the African LGBTQ community.

Our meetings:

May 26th, 2018– 11h00 am – Under the Udala trees by Chinelo Okparanta

June 30th, 2018 – 11h00 am – The Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu

July 28th, 2018 – 11h00 am – The Quiet Violence of Dreams – K Sello Duiker
